March 20, 20220 Comments

Manila, Philippines - On World Oral Health Day, Cleene CLIO invites everyone to celebrate by practicing proper oral healthcare with their families.

A product of proudly Filipino company PHILUSA Corporation, Cleene CLIO has been an ardent supporter of this global oral health initiative, especially with oral care given less priority during the pandemic when accessibility to dentists and visits to oral health facilities were challenging at the height of the lockdowns.

To emphasize the importance of good oral health practices at home, Cleene CLIO has partnered with Manila Water Foundation and Philippine Dental Association to provide oral health kits to various barangays and schools as part of this year’s World Oral Health Day activities. Over 2,000 health kits containing Cleene CLIO toothbrushes and Dental Floss Premium from Cleene CLIO and PHILUSA were distributed to 12 barangays and to the chosen hygiene facility in Dinalaonan Elementary School in Pangasinan.

And as a special treat for World Oral Health Day, selected Cleene CLIO products will be sold at 20% off exclusively in Mercury Drug stores nationwide until April 15, 2022.

Cleene CLIO continues to be the partner of every Filipino family in promoting good oral hygiene by offering a wide range of affordable and quality toothbrushes.

Recyled Maracas from Yakult Bottles
September 13, 20190 Comments

I was inspired by my husband to make this DIY Tube Maracas for our daughter's school project with the theme: recycled materials. My husband happens to be a musician and has been wanting to make a tube maracas as an addition to his percussion instruments. This is also a great alternative toys for kids.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

D-I-Y Tube Maracas

What you'll need:
  • empty Yakult bottles
  • scouring pads
  • dry cloth or rag
  • rice (raw)
  • instant glue or adhesive
  • cardboard boxes or newspaper
  • spray paint

Instructions:

  1. Wash the Yakult bottles thoroughly and let it dry.
  2. Lightly sand each bottle using the scouring pad. Rub back and forth in one direction. Remove dust with a dry cloth.

Lightly sand each bottle using the scouring pad. Rub back and forth in one direction. Remove dust with a dry cloth.
3. Pour some rice on one of the bottles (half-full) and leave the other bottle empty.

4. Apply adhesive (with caution) on the opening of the empty bottle and attach it to the other bottle. Seal the bottles properly to avoid rice spill.

5. Spray paint the bottles. Use some newspaper sheets or cardboard boxes to avoid paint spills and splatters.

Technique: Once you're done with the first coating, let it dry. Then, lightly sand it before doing the second coating.

I was so amazed with the outcome because it doesn't look like it was made out of Yakult bottles. Totally awesome!

Time to turn up the music!!!

Decorative Mandalas From Old CDs
September 13, 20190 Comments

Using recyclable materials, decorate your own home in the most amazing and creative ways. Turn those old CDs into an extraordinary hanging decor.

Recycled Mandala Hanging Decor

What you'll need:

  • old CDs
  • Mandala round patterns
  • scotch tape
  • cutter or packaging tape
  • acrylic paint (assorted color) & paint brush
  • metallic paint (optional)
  • marker
  • aluminum wire
  • nylon string

Instructions:

1. Remove the silver coating from the disk. There are different ways to get rid of the coating depending on its type. Using a packaging tape is one of the easiest way. Apparently with my CDs, I had to use a cutter to scrape off the metallic foil. It required a lot of scratching and a bit messy but still I was able to achieve a transparent CD I needed for this project.

2. Using a scotch tape, secure the CD on the Mandala pattern. If you don't have available patterns at home, search the web for "Mandala CD round patterns" and print it out.

3. Outline the pattern directly on the CD using a black acrylic paint or a marker. Let it dry.

4. Paint and design the CDs using the assorted acrylic paints, according to your preference. Let it dry overnight. Good thing I got some help from my daughter who's an art enthusiast.

5. Heat up the aluminum wire and use it to drill holes on the CDs.

6. And for the final touch, use the nylon string to connect the CDs and create a hanging decor.

And viola! Here's our final project.

I enjoyed making art together with my daughter because I know that she's having fun. I can see how dedicated and passionate she is in terms of arts.

Our kids have different skills that only us, parents, can discover. Let us encourage and help them develop these innate skills for them to grow and improve more.

DIY Constellation Projector
September 13, 2019 3 Comments

The end of the school year is the busiest time for most students. For the last two weeks, my daughter was very busy trying to meet the deadlines for her school projects. And as a mom who loves arts and crafts, I'm always there to help her out.

One of her Science Project was Constellation. We did a lot of research and I bumped into Full of Great Ideas DIY constellation project. I was inspired by her creativity and showed it my daughter. She was ecstatic to do the project instantly and so we did.

I personally created the constellation patterns based on her school textbook. I let her do the cutting, pasting, and other stuff so she can learn how to be responsible. After all, it's her school project.

What you'll need:

  • 1/8 illustration board
  • printable pattern (link is provided on the instruction below)
  • scissors
  • 8'' x 11'' craft paper
  • 8'' x 11'' bond paper
  • sparkling stickers
  • plastic cover
  • scotch tape
  • giant push pins or 1/8-inch hole puncher
  • 8 popsicle sticks
  • cutter
  • glue
  • glue gun
  • glue sticks
  • soap carton box
  • wrapper (any type and color)

Instructions:

1. Download the pattern here

2. Print out pages 1 and 2 in a craft paper and page 3 into a short bond paper. Using a pair of scissors, cut out every pieces including constellation patterns and names, information details, title, and TRY THIS! Set aside the constellation patterns and names.

3. Paste the information details on the right side of the illustration board, the TRY THIS! on the left side of the board, and the title on the top-middle portion of the board.

4. Place a sparkling sticker on the space left on the board. It's best to measure the space first before placing the sticker to prevent overlapping to other section.

5. Cover the illustration board with a plastic cover, and it will serve as the projector screen.

6. Using a giant push pin or a hole puncher, punch out the dots on the constellation patterns.

7. One at a time, cut each popsicle stick into half using a cutter.

8. Attach one pattern to each popsicle stick. Optional: To avoid pattern from falling off the stick, secure it with a strip of craft paper.

9. Paste the constellation name on the bottom part of the popsicle stick.

10. For the constellation pattern holder, use a recyclable material like a soap carton box or any box in similar size. Cover it with any type of wrapper you have at home.

12. Using a glue gun, attach it on the lower portion of the TRY THIS! section. Optional: Add a cardboard underneath to support the box.

Now's the fun part! Turn off the lights or head to a dark room. Pick a constellation pattern then aim it on the illustration board. Using a flashlight or your mobile phone's flashlight, project the pattern on the board to reveal the constellation. Adjust yourself to project a wider view then ask your classmate to identify the constellation.

Did you like what you saw? Leave a comment and let me know if this has been a great help to you in some ways.

Happy crafting!

Why I Took a Break from Blogging
March 11, 20190 Comments

Hello everyone!

I don't know guys if you noticed that I took a break from blogging. I just wanted to share how life has been since then.

I tried to look back to my true purpose of coming up with this blog. All I wanted was to keep the memories alive. I am so fond of photo albums and scrapbooks but when the internet thing came in, that's when I started blogging. Initially, I would admit, no one ever dares to read my blog. And I don't even care. It's not for everyone to see. I consider it as a diary or daily logs and I never thought I would end up inspiring a lot of women especially moms who have the same life experiences that I share on my blog.

It's quite hard for me to share one of my darkest moments. If you knew me pretty well, you knew I love cryptic posts and I don't share exactly what those darkest hours were. I would rather keep it to myself and handle it by myself.

But I realized, I have to let it all out. Sometimes life gets harsh but we have to move on and look on to the brighter side of it. So here's the real story...

Life has been very toxic. Moving into a new apartment. Family issues. Kids being active in school. Having a full-time job. Being a full-time mom and wife. I've got no time left for blogging. Life overwhelms me in many ways and I chose to take a break for a while to focus more on personal things that matter most to me - my kids and my family. There's just too much happening in my life.

But why give up on blogging of all things? I would admit negative thoughts hit me, and creatures of self-doubts started to creep in.  Why am I blogging? There are so many bloggers out there better than me. I'm not even half of what they've become. I earn very little from this blog but why am I still doing it? I see how successful my college and high school friends were...and look where I am. I felt so unfulfilled. It went on for months and then a year. And it has affected my current employment. I stopped communicating with my clients for no reason. I just decide to end it that way. I felt intoxicated but no one ever noticed. I try to mask myself with smiles and laughter but would cry when no one's looking.

However, having so much free time gave me more time to spend with the kids, make memories and witness their achievements with my very own eyes. It was the most rewarding thing with all the doubts and worries I've been trying to hide. But don't get me wrong, I wasn't sitting all day crying. There's much happier and fun days and I think that is what's keeping me in my toes and making life balanced.

After a year, I decided to grab a full-time job with better pay, thinking it's better and stable than just blogging. I met someone who offered me a virtual job, although I wasn't really looking at that time. I felt like it was a sign from God telling me it's time to start all over again, renew my life and start working again. And yes, I did.

Everything was good until I got laid off from work. It wasn't as stable as I thought it was. It was a popular real estate company in the US and yet we (including my co-VAs) got laid off. Yes, I'm officially unemployed. And it's stressing me again  -  job hunting; failed interviews; and sending more applications. Hopefully, I'll find something soon.

So what actually forced me to blog once again? Well, someone asked me - who influenced you into blogging? Do you have someone that you look up to? Who was it? It was a long pause. But it sounded funny when I told her...actually, there wasn't anyone. Then, I realized I don't have any influences when I started blogging.

Writing has always been my passion. It relaxes me. And I started blogging simply because I love writing. And I think those words that I can't blurt out, I can say it out loud through writing. I know it's weird. Although, I write mostly about life and family to simply keep the memories alive. Again, not for everyone to see but mainly for personal use 'cause I know time will come that I will look back at all these memories I have posted here and SMILE.

So I realized, it's not really that I gave up blogging but it's really the lack of time that stopped me from doing it. I think I need to do some hardcore time management. I will try my best to come up with new topics once in a while. It may not be as regular as it used to be but I will try to keep up the pace (as a promise to myself).

And despite all the life crisis and self-doubts that would forever linger within me, I accept the fact that life isn't perfect. That we should all find our own purpose in life to live our lives to the fullest. And with this crazy journey, I knew it will always lead me back to blogging. Because this blog defines me better than myself.

Winning Moment — Perla Gift Pack
June 22, 20180 Comments

I received my Perla gift pack last June 19, 2018. It comes with 4 large Perla laundry bar and 4 mini sizes.

This was my prize for winning their Facebook Promo last May 15, 2018.

I was initially contacted through Facebook that I won their promo.

I want to express my gratitude to Perla Philippines because they told me to claim it in Makati and I really cannot so I asked if it's possible for them to delivery the prize here in Bulacan. Without hesitations, they shipped the package at no cost on my part, which is very surprising, because I've dealt with companies that will require winners to shoulder the delivery cost. So I was really happy that they took time to ship the gift pack immediately.

So to Perla Philippines (again) thanks and more power!
