Our digital generation has opened up more opportunities for ordinary housewives like me, underemployed, unemployed and newly graduates all over the world. We get to work with people across the globe. All you need is a working computer or a laptop, your skills, knowledge and passion.
It was 2010 and I'm already working as a home-based data researcher for kgb_ Philippines, however, I had to find other work at home opportunity as a part-time job because the salary is quite low.
I've gone through lots of research and I discovered Upwork (formerly Odesk). They just started out during that time (and I'm glad to be one of the pioneer members of the site). I had to accept jobs at a dollar ($1) per hour rate just to get some working experience. And it's truly worth it. Right after my first job experience, and a very nice review from the client, it gave a boost to my online resume that made me feel a lot more confident to apply for a more complex job. And the rest is history.
I've met a lot of international clients (mostly from Canada & Australia) and it's really fascinating that I get to do what I love to do. I have so much creativity in me that I was able to use it to most of my jobs today.
